Now, with our allies from the Faith, Environmental and Labor community, we're asking City Council to fix the way we invest our tax dollars in development projects.

By enacting real economic development reform, Pittsburgh can show struggling cities and regions how to create an economy based on the principles of open government, family-sustaining jobs, and environmental stewardship.
To jumpstart this process, Pittsburgh UNITED and allied organizations are proposing a package of economic development reforms.
Our Economic Development Reform package will:
* Create a more open and inclusive process for responsible investment of our tax dollars.
* Ensure the creation of family-supporting jobs.
* Minimize environmental impact of large developments and increase Pittsburgh's stature as a leader in the green economy.
The first bill in our package, "Prevailing Wage" legislation was introduced into City Council on November 17th.
Councilman Bill Peduto and Council President Doug Shields introduced the second two bills, "Environmental Standards" and "Transparency and Accountability," on the Monday before Thanksgiving.
Join with the members of our coalition today in support of real reform in how economic development policies work in our city.
